The section of the River Fillan below the Auchtertyre Burn is shallow and in normal conditions safe to wade. The gravel bottom and very clear water make spotting fish difficult as the least disturbance will spook them and before the angler can see them they are gone. The Brown Trout are pale coloured with large spots and tend to hold in feeding spots beside mid stream boulders most just sub surface. The food chain is varied and plentiful making fly choice difficult so the angler will change frequently. Permits from The Wigwams Shop. Good Parking close to the river.
