River Tay at Taymouth Castle

River Tay at Taymouth Castle

The South bank of this stretch known as 'The Dairy', is very steep for approximately 500m both up and down stream. The North bank is more easily accessed from the path and although there are trees close to the edge it is possible to have short roll casts into the fast flowing eddies and tempt one of the large wild Brown Trout which prefer this fast rocky water. Immediately behind the Castle the South bank evens out to give some excellent opportunities to fly fish some great runs and short pools, while the North bank becomes steep.
